Park City, also called Városliget Park is the main place of leisure for aquincenses (adjective of the inhabitants of Budapest).
Initially, like many other parks, was a hunting grounds nobility used for years. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was transformed gradually into the park which is on today.
The City Park is one of the first public parks in the world. The dimensions of the park is 1,400 by 900 meters.
Within the park you will find several attractions, among which the zoo, a small amusement park, the Széchenyi Spa and castle Vajdahunyad.
Speaking Vajdahunyad Castle, it was initially built in wood for Expo 1896. After the event was rebuilt in stone. Its architecture is a copy of other existing buildings in Hungary. Inside the castle you will find a museum (agriculture) and a church, small as pretty.
To guide you, except the castle, attractions are on the left side of the Plaza of Heroes.
In the City Park will also find a lake that, depending on the time of year you visit the city, he or you can rent a boat, or ice skating.
The children’s favorite
Needless to say, if you visit Budapest with children, Városliget Park between visits should be necessary in Budapest.
