Museum of Contemporary Art: The Ludwig Museum is the only museum of contemporary art in Hungary who collects even international works. Founded in 1989 by the Hungarian cultural government.
The basis of his collection were the 70 pieces donated by the couple Ludwig and the Ludwig Foundation in Aachen.In 1991 and gave 91 pieces this year organized the first exhibition in the building to the Buda Castle under the direction of the National Gallery.
The museum became independent in 1996 and since then its collection becomes enriched and organized over 150 exhibitions.
In 2005 the museum moved from Castle to the Palace of Arts, equipped with the latest technology to organize all kinds of exhibitions and events related to contemporary art.
The art museum aims to present the Hungarian (and Central-European) in their relations with the international art, since the intent of the Peter Ludwig was trying to pre-1989 worlds and ideologically divided from approaching through art.
Since the 90s, the museum collects works by artists systematically Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Romanians and Slovenians.
