The Budapest Fringe Festival was first held in 2006, during the last three days of the Budapest Spring Festival. The Fringe movement originated at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1947 and since then numerous international festivals around the world have hosted similar events.
The essence of the Fringe is to provide a platform where everybody can perform alongside the carefully selected programs of the mother festival. The Fringe fully supports the participants’ creative freedom and strives to ensure a varied and broad program. As an open venue the Fringe is without doubt the best stage for local youth and as yet undiscovered talent to perform.
The Budapest Spring Festival is continuing its successful series of Fringe festivals between March 28 and March 30 2008 in Buda’s Millenáris and its environs.
Once again we welcome the application of theatrical companies, bands and performers.
